Beginning of the year letter to parents
Dear Parent(s),
Welcome to a new school year! I am so excited to begin this year with your child. I wanted to give you some information that will be valuable to you and your child throughout the school year.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 936-2001 ext. 5109 or [email protected]. I will be more than happy to send pictures or videos of your child participating in school activities if you send me your e-mail address.
I also have created a class website called, Mrs. Branda’s B106 Blurbs. You can find it by typing:
http://mrsbrandasclass.weebly.com
I will be putting important information for you and your child as well as posting pictures of the fun things we will be doing during the day!
Mornings
If you bring your child to school, please meet us in the cafeteria at 7:55. We will be getting students off the bus at that time. You will need to park at the front doors and walk your child to the cafeteria so the buses can easily and safely drop of the kids.
Lunch Money
Please send breakfast and lunch money for the week on Mondays. Place money in a sealed envelop or baggie with your child’s name and amount. Please let me know if your child is eating breakfast at home.
Breakfast and lunch menus come home monthly. Please look over them and consider sending a lunch for your child if he/she will not eat most foods served. It becomes a long day with hungry kids. :)
Supplies
Backpack
Extra clothes (just in case)
Diapers and Baby Wipes (if needed)
Feeding tube supplies and formula (if needed)
1 box of crayons
1 box of washable markers
2 bottles of glue
2 boxes of Kleenex
Please mark all personal items
Birthdays/Snacks
We love to celebrate! If you want to bring birthday treats, something small and (semi) healthy would probably be best. Drinks can be brought in as well but I would ask that pop not be brought in.
We will be having a snack everyday around 2:00. If your child is on a special diet, please let me know. We would greatly appreciate your kindness in providing a snack for the kids. If you would like to, please just send it with your child to school and we will use it. Thanks!
Volunteers
If you would like to come in and volunteer your time in our classroom, please let me know. We would be more than happy to have helpers!
Doctor Scripts
Doctor scripts are required for physical therapy each school year. This does not require an office visit. You may call and get a script to send to school. I’ll make sure it gets to the therapist. Scrips are not needed to speech or occupational therapy.
Medications
Please keep the nurse and I informed of any medical changes with your child. This would include change of medications. It may require an adjustment period and we need to know what to expect.
All medications must be given to the nurse. By law, nothing can be given at school without a doctor’s order. Please do not send medications to school in your child’s school bag.
Transportation
Notify the bust driver and school of any transportation changes concerning your child. This may include a change in caregiver.
Inform your bust driver of any health issues or other concerns that he/she should be aware of when transporting your child to and from school.
If your child is sick and cannot make it to school, please call either the bus garage or the bus driver and let them know that they do not need to stop at your house. The bus drivers really appreciate knowing ahead of time.
Our Plan
We will be working on functional reading and math, letter identification, fine and gross motor, language, self-help and social skills. Students will attend P.E., Music, Art, and Library weekly as well as use iPads for their computer time. Therapies will be integrated into daily activities throughout the day to reinforce related services.
Thank you so much for all of your help!
